Arm Lift in Naples, FL

Hanging arm skin is not only unsightly, but also interferes with your ability to wear sleeveless tops with confidence, as well as causing underarm skin rashes and irritation.

Many women and men gain sagging skin folds because of weight loss.  Although there are many health benefits to losing weight, one drawback is the sagging skin that hangs from the arms after weight loss.

What Is Arm Lift Surgery?

An arm lift, also known as brachioplasty, removes excess skin and fat from your upper arms. The goal is to tighten the area for a smoother, more toned appearance. An arm lift in Naples can help restore your ability to wear sleeveless clothing without feeling self-conscious. Additional benefits of this procedure include improved body image and relief from skin irritation caused by folds of upper arm skin rubbing together.

Am I a Candidate for Arm Lift Surgery?

Ideal candidates for arm lift surgery are individuals who:

  • Have excess skin and fat in the upper arm that has not responded to diet and exercise
  • Are at a stable weight and maintain a healthy diet
  • Have good underlying muscle tone, but are bothered by loose or sagging tissue
  • Have realistic expectations about the appearance of their arms after surgery
  • Abstain from smoking for 2 weeks before and after surgery

Prospective patients should also be in good health and free from conditions that may impair healing or increase the risk of infection, excessive bleeding, or other complications.

Is Brachioplasty Right for Me?

Brachioplasty surgery may be the right treatment if you feel self-conscious about your arm shape or if extra skin prevents you from wearing the clothes you want. Many patients choose this procedure to restore confidence in their appearance after weight loss or aging has affected the elasticity of their skin. However, it’s important to discuss your medical history with Dr. Prysi to ensure you are a suitable candidate and understand both the benefits and risks.

Arm Lift Surgery Techniques

  • Traditional Brachioplasty: Performed on people who have lost large amounts of weight and have excess arm skin. The scar from this surgery will run from your armpit to your elbow.
  • Minimal Incision Brachioplasty: Appropriate for men and women who have a small amount of excess tissue and are usually quite fit. This surgery will result in a permanent, but small scar in your armpit.

Preparing For Your Procedure

Before Your Arm Lift Procedure

Before your arm lift, Dr. Prysi will review your medical history, discuss any current medications, and outline steps to reduce your risk of surgical complications. You will be advised to stop smoking, avoid certain medications that increase bleeding, and arrange for help at home during the initial phase of arm lift recovery. You will also discuss the type of anesthesia to be used, which is  general anesthesia.

During Your Arm Lift Procedure

On the day of surgery, Dr. Prysi will mark your arms to plan the incision placement. Once anesthesia is administered, he will carefully remove excess skin and fat, reshape the underlying tissues, and smooth the remaining skin over your new contour.

Afterwards, the incision is closed, and compression dressings are applied to reduce swelling and support the underlying tissues during the recovery period. The entire surgery typically takes a few hours, and patients return home the same day, accompanied by detailed arm lift recovery instructions.

After Your Arm Lift Procedure in Naples, Florida

Regardless of the type of brachioplasty procedure, after your surgery, your arms will be wrapped or placed in an elastic sleeve to reduce swelling. Most Arm Lift patients can return to their non-strenuous routine after two weeks. Strenuous work or exercise should not be resumed for four to six weeks. It is important that your incisions are not subject to excessive force, abrasion, or motion during your healing time.

Any swelling or bruising will gradually disappear over three to four weeks and should be mostly gone in approximately three months. Your scars will begin to fade after six months, depending on your skin type and the procedure.
