What Does Rhinoplasty Treat?
Rhinoplasty can address the following:
- Oversized nose
- Bump on the bridge of your nose
- Unrefined nasal tip
- Oversized or flared nostrils
- Crooked nose
- Asymmetrical nose (as the result of an injury or trauma)
- Deviated septum
- Wide or broad nasal base
Who is a Good Candidate for Rhinoplasty?
If you are unhappy with the size, shape, or angle of your nose, a rhinoplasty may be able to help. This procedure can also correct breathing problems that result from a deviated septum. Ideal candidates will be healthy, non-smokers who have realistic expectations for the outcome of their procedure.
During your consultation, Dr. Prysi will examine your nose and create a unique plan of action to create the nasal appearance you desire. He will also explain the rhinoplasty procedure in detail so you are fully aware of the procedure process.
The Rhinoplasty Procedure
With years of rhinoplasty experience, Dr. Prysi has mastered the intricate and delicate nature of nose surgery, helping to restore the confidence of many patients who feel self-conscious about their noses. His sense of balance, symmetry, beauty and harmony is showcased in the beautiful and natural results of his patients.
Rhinoplasty is an outpatient procedure that can be performed using either the “open” or “closed” approach. During an open rhinoplasty, Dr. Prysi makes an incision across the small strip of skin separating your nostrils. During a closed rhinoplasty, Dr. Prysi makes the surgical incisions within your nostrils. He separates the skin from the tissue to access the underlying structures of your nose. Then, Dr. Prysi makes the necessary modifications to your nose, such as removing excess cartilage, adding cartilage, reshaping the nostrils or smoothing a bump on the nasal bridge. When he is finished, Dr. Prysi closes the incisions with sutures.
Recovering from Rhinoplasty
After rhinoplasty, your nose will feel sore and swollen. You will need to rest and refrain from strenuous activity or anything which could cause trauma (e.g., sports, exercise) to your healing nose. Surgical packing will be placed in your nose for a day, and a splint and bandages may be worn for about a week to ensure optimal healing. Dr. Prysi will supply you with instructions on how to care for your nose; he will also meet with you for several follow-up appointments at his Naples office to check your healing progress. If you have any questions during the rhinoplasty recovery stage, Dr. Prysi is available to speak with you.
Keep in mind that it can take up to a year for rhinoplasty swelling to completely disappear. Rhinoplasty results are permanent, so you can enjoy your new, more proportionate nose long-term.
