Rhinoplasty is one of the most refined procedures in plastic and reconstructive surgery, that enhances the nose’s appearance. In Naples, FL, patients turn to nose surgery not only to reshape the external nose, but also to address concerns such as a deviated septum, nasal obstruction, or a crooked nose after injury.
What Is Rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty is a highly individualized procedure designed to improve the form and function of the nose. The procedure may address the nasal dorsum, nasal tip, nasal bridge, the lateral nasal wall, and even the nasal skeleton. For functional concerns such as difficulty breathing. By reshaping the septal cartilage, refining the nasal bones, and balancing the external nasal anatomy, rhinoplasty helps restore a more proportional and naturally attractive nasal appearance.
What Does Rhinoplasty Treat?
Rhinoplasty can address the following:
- Facial balance
- Refine dorsal hump
- Reshape nasal tip
- Broken nose or asymmetrical nose reshaping
- Improve nasal breathing
- Reduce nasal cartilage
Am I a Candidate for Rhinoplasty?
If you are unhappy with your nasal structure, facial features, or nasal passages, a rhinoplasty may be able to help. Ideal candidates will be healthy, non-smokers who have realistic expectations for the outcome of their procedure.
During your consultation, experienced surgeon Dr. Prysi will examine your nose and create a unique plan of action to create facial balance and redefine the nasal bone. He will also explain the rhinoplasty procedure in detail so you are fully aware of the surgical procedures and recovery period. Be sure to inform Dr. Prysi of your medical history and any previous surgery.
Is Rhinoplasty Right for Me?
It’s important to consider whether this procedure aligns with your goals, expectations, and lifestyle. It may not be the right choice for patients seeking quick, temporary changes, those uncomfortable with downtime, or anyone expecting perfection rather than a natural enhancement.
Types of Rhinoplasty
Dr. Prysi offers customized rhinoplasty techniques, each chosen based on your anatomy, goals, and findings from your nasal analysis during your rhinoplasty consultation:
Open Rhinoplasty
Open rhinoplasty involves a small incision placed along the tiny bridge of tissue between the nostrils. This approach provides exceptional visibility of the internal nasal anatomy, including the upper lateral cartilages, lower lateral cartilage, dorsal septum, and anterior nasal spine. Open rhinoplasty offers the best control and precision.
What Can Be Combined with Rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty is frequently combined with other plastic surgery procedures to enhance overall facial aesthetics and create harmonious proportions. Pairing procedures can create a more unified transformation while reducing overall downtime.
Rhinoplasty and Eyelid Surgery
For many patients, combining rhinoplasty with eyelid surgery creates a refreshed, balanced appearance that enhances the entire midface. Improving the nose’s shape while rejuvenating the eyelids can dramatically enhance facial balance and reduce signs of aging. These procedures complement each other exceptionally well for patients seeking a comprehensive yet natural-looking facial enhancement without multiple separate recovery periods.
Before Your Rhinoplasty Procedure
Prior to your surgery, you will have a detailed rhinoplasty consultation where Dr. Prysi evaluates your internal nasal anatomy, external nasal anatomy, and overall nasal structure. This includes assessment of the nasal cavity, nasal airway, lateral nasal wall, nasal bridge, and the stability of the septal cartilage and external nasal valves. Photographs may be used as part of your nasal analysis.
You’ll receive instructions on medications to avoid, how to prepare your home, and what to expect regarding nasal packing, postoperative care, and the timeline for healing. This thorough preparation ensures a safe, smooth experience and supports optimal results for all rhinoplasty patients.
During Your Rhinoplasty Procedure
With years of experience in reconstructive surgery, Dr. Prysi has mastered the intricate and delicate nature of the rhinoplasty, helping to restore the confidence of many patients who feel self-conscious about their facial features. His sense of balance, symmetry, nasal form, and facial harmony is showcased in his patients’ beautiful and natural results.
Rhinoplasty surgery is an outpatient procedure. During an open rhinoplasty, Dr. Prysi makes an incision across the small strip of skin separating your nostrils. He separates the skin from the nasal tissues to access the underlying bone and cartilage in your nose. Then, Dr. Prysi makes the necessary modifications to your nose, such as removing excess cartilage, adding cartilage, reshaping the nasal septum, or smoothing a bump on the nasal dorsum. When he is finished, Dr. Prysi closes the incisions with sutures.
After Your Rhinoplasty Procedure
After the surgical procedure, you can expect swelling, minor bruising, and a sore nose. You will need to rest with your head elevated and refrain from strenuous activity or anything which could cause traumatic injury (e.g., sports, exercise) to your healing nose. Surgical packing will be placed in your nose for a day, and a splint with skin-covering bandages may be worn for about a week to ensure optimal healing and minimize swelling. Dr. Prysi will supply you with instructions on how to care for your nose; he will also meet with you for several follow-up appointments at his Naples office to check your healing progress. If you have any questions or unusual symptoms during the rhinoplasty recovery stage, Dr. Prysi is available to speak with you.
Keep in mind that rhinoplasty is a slow healing procedure, so it can take up to a year for all the swelling to completely disappear. Rhinoplasty results are permanent, so you can enjoy your new, more proportionate nose long-term.
